Hi everyone! Thank you for coming to my website and on this page! I specialize in newborn photography in NOVA and this blog post is about a lovely family and their second newborn in which I did a newborn session in their home.

I always love doing newborn sessions in my studio in Reston, Virginia. The reason is because of everything being right there that I might need or props switches if parents decide and stable and predicatable lighting. I do still offer in home newborn sessions, though, because as a mother, I understand how difficult it is right after having a baby to get out of the house. You might have had a rough delivery /c section or you might have other small children. In home newborn sessions are especially nice when you multiple other small children, cause we can do the sibling portraits whenever, the other children are at home so they can watch tv or eat  or play, whereas, if they were at the studio, we always do the family and sibling portraits first to get that done first because as you know with toddlers and young kids, they dont last long, they are super curious and only have a small amount  of time and window before they are disinterested and want to leave or get cranky. Whatever the case, in home newborn sessions I can accomodate with no issues! I'll basically bring the studio to you. If lighting is an issue in the home, I would bring my portable studio lighting.

This family had a living room that had great lighting so we did the whole session in there, from the two family portraits and the baby portraits of Baby Andrew. I love light setups and in my studio I have a white studio with large floor to ceiling rooms with sheer white curtains, this family had a white couch and light colored walls so this worked out perfectly. They also requested a black backdrop as well, which I love shooting for the more emotive feel.

Baby Andrew is the second born and omg isnt he the cutest little thing?! The hair that just  pops up made me melt, and he was such a good baby, giving me awake and asleep shots throughout the session! The parents chose a few setups that are chosen quite a bit and can you blame them? These are so cute! I do have tons of props and setups available and even offer custom setups! So if there is an idea or insp youd like, I'd be happy to create a new setup! Sof if you are thinking of having a newborn session, reach out to me to chat!
