Hi there! Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer here and I wanted to talk a little about Newborn sessions, specifically when it comes down to choosing the type of newborn session that is right for you!

I offer two types of Newborn sessions :

-Posed Newborn sessions/family Sessions- Where baby is safely posed in a variety of props and accessories with outfits or swaddled in the studio or outdoor, weather permitting and baby would need to be asleep for alot of the poses, therefore these sessions require more time for the session, safety training, experience and there is an preparation guide on the day of to try to follow before the session. The family portion captures posed photographs of the family and with siblings

- Lifestyle Newborn Sessions- Where not a ton of props or accessories are used, instead, I aim on capturing candid, guided lightly posed photos of the new baby and the family. These are wonderful because these types of sessions are more relaxed and baby can be awake or asleep, I capture the candid , raw moments of being parent/siblings loving on their newest addition

How to choose the right type for you? Some people don't know what the difference is, once it is explained in more detail, you will decide which you would like to have more, either cute posed baby in baskets, special props, themed, with outfits/swaddled with accessories or you would like to keep it simple/classic and timeless. These are all personal choices, but all are beautiful in my opinion because at the core of it, I am capturing this new stage in life, for everyone, you, your spouse/partner, your other children and with your parents, this new little being who you all waited such a long time for is here and I am ready to capture and document ALL the sweetness there is!

If you book full newborn sessions with me wether its the Posed or lifestyle, they will both include some element of both styles in each session, just one more than other depending on the package you choose. If you book a BABY ONLY package, then that's what we are focusing on. You can always add on parents or siblings to partake for an additional fee!

No matter which package you choose, all you have to do is sit back and relax while I guide you through the process as we capture these special moments you will cherish for the rest of your life! So if you or someone you know are expecting a little one, reach out! Clients book months in advance to get a spot on my calendar, however, sometimes I have last minute availability! How it works is: Once you decide to book, email me or call or text and I can send over contract and deposit information to get your due date on my calendar as a 'soft booking' once you deliver I will have you reach out to me to set up date for your session which is most ideal before baby is 2.5 weeks old.
